How about it for a child's birth celebration or for someone living alone? ● Material Description ・ The signature is "Kuniyoshi". Based on the way the signature is cut, it is believed to be Awataguchi Kuniyoshi. Awataguchi Kuniyoshi was a swordsmith of the Awataguchi school, who was active in the mid-Kamakura period, and is famous as a master of tanto (short swords). ・ The hamon (blade pattern) is a perfect example of a gunome-midare (irregular wave pattern). ・ Although still amateurish, it has been polished with natural whetstones, similar to Japanese swords. It is finished with sashikomi-togi (a polishing technique). ・ The saya (scabbard) and tsuka (handle) are made of magnolia wood. Finished with cashew lacquer. ・ The sword bag is a remake of an old kimono obi (sash). ・ The tsuba (handguard) is a handmade brass carving. ・ The mekugi (peg) is smoked bamboo. ・ This product is the kissaki (tip) portion of the sword. It is not the nakago (tang) portion. ・ Steel plates are welded to the remnants of the sword to form the tang. ・ The reference image is a photo of the original nakago of the sword used as the material.
