Comes with the original box and a brief biography. *Please check the condition in the images. ■Product Details■ A set of four handmade confectionery dishes by Deisho Matsuoka (real name: Masao Matsuoka), a potter who has a kiln at the foot of Mt. Komagatake in Hokkaido. A beautiful masterpiece with a unique glaze flow and the earthy texture that makes use of the volcanic ash soil of Mt. Komagatake. The glaze, which changes from a pale gray-blue to a yellowish-brown, is elegant and gives a calm impression. The original box is inscribed with "Komayaki Kiln Confectionery Dishes, Made by Deisho" and the artist's seal is engraved on the bottom. The natural distortions and differences in glaze texture created by hand give each dish its own individuality. Artist Biography: Deisho Matsuoka (real name: Masao Matsuoka) Graduated from the Ceramics Department of Kyoto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts in 1943. Opened "Komayaki Kiln" in Nanae-cho, Hokkaido in 1973. Member of the Hokkaido Art Association Member of the Akakousha Art Association Selected and awarded prizes in the Shin-Hokusha Public Exhibition, etc. Pursues unique glaze expressions with the nature and climate of Mt. Komagatake as a motif. Highly acclaimed for warm, handmade tableware. Features of the Works: The earthy texture using volcanic ash from Mt. Komagatake and the fluid glaze expression. The glaze flowing along the hand-carved lines is beautiful and changes its expression depending on the light. Perfect for Japanese sweets, dishes, and serving plates.
