Thank you for viewing. This is a square plate I purchased at an antique market. I was fond of the freely-growing morning glories and brought it home. The expression of the morning glory's characteristic buds is wonderful. Butterflies are arranged in the upper blank space for good balance. A single, cute morning glory is drawn on the body, and one on each of the four petal edges. The shop owner said it was from the Meiji era, from Imari or Arita. There are a few chips on the edges. Square plates are prone to chipping when bumped, so some damage is inevitable. Since they are not large chips, you have a wide range of choices, such as using it as is or repairing it with kintsugi.
