[8] Shape: Natural inkstone with real leaf carving ◉ According to documents, Akama inkstones have a history dating back 600 years to the Muromachi period. The Akama stone is a reddish-brown chlorite tuff, said to have a stone quality very similar to Chinese Duan inkstones, with a mixture of iron oxide, mud, and ash. Due to differences in color, they are divided into purple gold stone, purple cloud stone, purple jade stone, purple blue stone, and purple stone. ◯ The artisan's work beautifully finishes the natural inkstone, skillfully utilizing the Akama stone as is, with the edges carved with real leaves and fruits. On the hill, as a characteristic of Akama stone, small star-like spots of pale green-blue appear on the adzuki bean-colored base, making it a unique work.
