I purchased it locally while stationed in Vietnam. It's a simple and cute dish with hand-painted designs on the unique soil of southern Vietnam. It's neither too thin nor too thick, with a perfectly balanced thickness. It's a pottery made for everyday use by the common people of southern Vietnam. Unlike the neatly shaped everyday tableware found in Japan, it's not meticulously finished, and there's considerable variation due to the handmade nature of the work by Vietnamese people. Because they are stacked and fired, most plates have 3-4 stacking marks on the surface, but this rustic quality is a characteristic of Song Be ware. However, this particular plate is rare because I searched for the one from the top of the stack, so it has no stacking marks. *Please refer to the photos. There are no chips on the surface of the dish, but there are some chips and irregularities near the foot. Please consider purchasing if you understand Southeast Asian traditional crafts. *Please refrain from purchasing if you are overly concerned about minor imperfections. It's a lovely plate that will brighten your mood when used for breakfast. It will make your dishes look great even if you just put toast and fried eggs on it. It's a versatile size that's perfect for serving whole cakes, etc. I plan to use Takkyubin Compact or Yu-Packet Plus for shipping. In that case, I will carefully cover the plate with cushioning material to prevent breakage.
