Looks like tin or galvanized iron, but it's a light, old container. My mother bought it about 20 years ago from an antique shop. I was drawn to its appearance and brought it home from my parents' house, but I never put anything in it, just displayed it on a shelf. The seams aren't smooth, and it had rust and discoloration from when I bought it. Some of the metal around the inside bottom peeled off about 10 years ago.
