The back of the inkstone is engraved with "Ogatsu Stone," and it comes with an Ogatsu inkstone guide. This inkstone is made from Ogatsu stone from Miyagi Prefecture and was crafted by inkstone craftsman Tanamo Takahashi. It has a convenient brush rest on the right side. It grinds ink smoothly and comfortably, typical of Japanese inkstones. It grinds ink very well, and the ink color is also good. It disperses ink well, and the ink spreads nicely, allowing you to use it for both thick and light inks, and write good lines. It's a good inkstone for both oil soot ink and pine soot ink.
