This is a tokkuri (sake bottle) made in Awata, Kyoto, around 1800, during the Edo period. It was primarily used within the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and the motifs followed a set pattern. The larger tokkuri has a crack in the body, but does not leak. The mark of Kinkozan is stamped on the side of the body, though it is difficult to see. The smaller one has a repair on the mouth. This one is unsigned, but appears to be somewhat older than the larger one. While there are no issues with using them, personally, I don't find that sake tastes particularly good when drunk from these, so I recommend them for appreciation and reference purposes only. Height of the larger one is approximately 17cm. Height of the Awata-yaki (smaller one) is approximately 15.8cm. Not sold separately.
