This was the 8-inch tall 877 boot. This boot was a great success upon its release, and various variations expanded within a few years. The 6-inch tall 875 is one of them. The ease of wear provided by the moccasin-type toe (mock toe), the Traction Tred sole that makes it easy to walk anywhere and reduces fatigue even after wearing it for long periods. Furthermore, with the functionality and durability provided by high-quality leather and sturdy construction, the 875, along with the 877, gained tremendous support from workers and became a representative work boot in America, and has continued to be loved as a representative boot of Red Wing even now, about 65 years later. The 875 used brown oiled leather called Oro-Russet from its initial release in the 1950s until the 1990s, but its color changed several times throughout its long history, sometimes with a bright gold tone and sometimes with a stronger reddish hue. In 2014, the leather was returned to the original orange-tinged brown leather that is rich in oil, and the result was the current Oro-Legacy leather. Especially, raw hides with a smooth grain are selected, and after tanning, they are only dyed without any painting on the grain, resulting in leather with a natural texture.
