While summer obi made of linen or Hakata-ori are, of course, wonderful, they often give a more stylish impression, which sometimes doesn't quite match my image. There are many cute ones made of synthetic fibers, but when paired with your favorite summer kimono or special yukata, there can be a disparity. In the midst of this, I found this obi. It's a summer fukuro obi (full-width obi) made of monsha (figured silk gauze) that has been cut lengthwise and made into a hanhaba obi. I received it from an acquaintance, and I've selected two this time. If there seems to be demand, I'm thinking of asking them to weave more, but I don't know when that will be. I'd even like to have such a wonderful summer fukuro obi in the first place, but it's exciting to be able to casually wear it as a hanhaba obi. You can enjoy it from this season through autumn. This is an item that would be around ¥400,000 as a fukuro obi, but as a hanhaba obi, it's reasonably priced. ◆ It's 480cm long, which is extra-long, yet it's incredibly thin and light. It has a textured pattern throughout, and it's very elaborate. I'm not sure if it's wild silk, but it also uses zenmai (fern) thread, giving it a unique flavor. The white side has silver threads woven in, making it sparkle.
