This is a valuable, extremely rare, and beautiful wooden violin case. The case appears to be made of mahogany, with a beautiful wood grain. The top lid of the case is made by carving a thick board of over 5 cm, and it has been crafted with great care and effort. It is a beautifully made 4/4 size violin case. The interior lining has 5 pockets of various sizes. Judging from the passage of probably over 100 years, there are no tears, and it seems to be in relatively good condition. The bottom cloth of the lining is made to be removable for easy cleaning. 80 cm x 25 cm x 15 cm (thickness) The case does not have a key (in the center of the case). The opening and closing and locking mechanisms of the case work smoothly. The metal fittings seem to be made of nickel silver, so I think they would become beautiful if polished... but I am not polishing them at present. Furthermore, it seems that this case originally had a "handle," and small screw holes can be seen in those positions (left and right). As it is a violin case for carrying, it is made lighter than it appears. I was impressed by the beautiful wood grain and careful craftsmanship, and I purchased it in Paris, France, a long time ago. The shop owner in Paris emphasized that "it was made in Italy over 200 years ago."
