This lightweight and functional jacket, made from ripstop fabric designed for wear in tropical rainforests during the Vietnam War, is the final, 5th model, which underwent five major revisions. The final 5th model, adopted from 1969-70, features the omission of the V-shaped gussets on the cuffs compared to the 4th model. A distinctive feature is the slanted chest pockets, designed for easy access even when prone in combat. The exposed buttons used in the 1st model and the epaulettes used in the 1st and 2nd models were eliminated. From the 4th model onwards, durable and lightweight ripstop fabric was used. There are four front pockets: the chest pockets are slanted with gussets, and the pockets near the waist also have large gussets, increasing capacity. Drain holes are visible at the bottom of all pockets for water drainage. The cuffs are designed to be adjustable with buttons.
