This is a Birdseye knit sweater, a classic from L.L.Bean, imported from America through catalog mail order around the 1980s. I bought it new at the time and tried it on a few times, but I never wore it after that, so it's been sitting in a drawer. You can see from the photos of the tag on the back of the neck, the neck area, and the cuffs and hem that it's practically unused and in excellent condition.
