I used other high-magnification zoom lenses frequently, so I didn't use this one much, and there are no noticeable major scratches on the exterior. Both the zoom and focus rings function well. There is a small amount of dust inside the lens, but it's not noticeable and won't affect photos. I personally think it's a very clean unit, but please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for a perfect, mint-condition item.
