This exquisite piece showcases the characteristic beauty of Raku ware, with a deep green glaze that appears rich and dark where thick, and vibrant where thin. Three gold lines adorn the exterior, each inscribed with the numbers 3, 5, and 7. The Raku seal is stamped on the underside. The original box bears the inscription "Aokin-iri Haiki Raku Kichizaemon" (青金入灰器 樂吉左衛門) on the lid. A label on the side of the box reads "Raku Keinyu Saku Nikoinashi" (樂慶入作 弐個入子), suggesting the previous owner may have stored Keinyu's haiki (ash container) together with this one (speculation). The interior shows some slight discoloration due to age (see photos 14-16), but the exterior is clean and in excellent condition, with no damage or repairs. *Thoroughly inspected with a black light.* The original cord is still attached. Comes with the original box. Diameter: 18 cm, Height: 7.1 cm ▢ Raku Konyu (樂弘入) Born 1857, died 1932. The 12th generation of the Raku family. One of the Senke Jisshoku (Ten Masters of the Senke). Eldest son of the 11th generation, Keinyu. Name: Kichizaemon. Succeeded as head of the family in 1871. Known for his bold use of the spatula in red Raku ware and his mastery of double-layered black Raku glaze, especially his famous yellow-flecked black tea bowls. Seals include the "Hachi-Raku" seal (八樂印), where the "yo" (幺) of the "Raku" character resembles the number 8, in various sizes; the "Raku" character seal written by Lord Yorinori Tokugawa of Kishu; a seal received from Prince Fushimi Sadanaru; the "Koka" (澆花) seal in a cocoon shape for use at Nishi Hongan-ji Temple; the cursive "Raku" character seal written by Rokurokusai Soza; and the square seal "Jūni-dai Kicho" (十二代喜長). Retired to Ishikawa, Shiga Prefecture in 1919. 【References】 Rakkan Kao Daijiten (Dictionary of Seals and Signatures), Tankosha Teihon Raku Rekidai (The Raku Generations), Tankosha #Why not own your own tea utensils? #TeaUtensils #Haiki (AshContainer) #RakuYaki (Raku Ware) #RakuYaki (Raku Ware) #KyoYaki (Kyoto Ware) #SennoRikyu #Raku #Konyu #Kichizaemon #SenkeJisshoku (Ten Masters of the Senke) #Sumitemae (Charcoal Procedure) #Ceramics #Chaki (TeaCeremony Utensils) #Chaji (Tea Ceremony) #Kaiseki (Traditional Japanese Meal) #Sado (Tea Ceremony) #Chashitsu (Tea Room) #Chakai (Tea Gathering) #Kyoto #Sado (Tea Ceremony) #Omotesenke (Omote Senke School) #Urasenke (Ura Senke School) #MushakojiSenke (Mushakoji Senke School) #Chanoyu (Tea Ceremony) #Beauty #Art
