Afghan Women's Support Project "EJAAD" Afghan Women's Embroidery & Education Project EJAAD 'EJAAD' means innovation, creation (in Dari). It aims to create a place where young women, who have difficulty obtaining education and employment opportunities, can thrive, while also preserving Afghan traditional crafts. EJAAD began in 2017 with an encounter with Abdul, an Afghan student studying at Osaka University. In Afghanistan, the rights of women to education and employment may be further suppressed, but it is precisely in times like these that grassroots activities that directly connect with local women are important. We will continue to support them, encourage them, and help them realize their dreams. Since the political change in August 2021, the Afghan economy has collapsed, and people are living in difficult conditions. Also, under Taliban rule, women's basic human rights are being suppressed. The EJAAD team has been providing emergency humanitarian aid (food distribution, medical support) during the winter. And, from the spring of 2022, we have resumed the construction of the EJAAD Center, and a base for women to learn and work has been completed. We are grateful for your support.
