I placed it in the room for about two days, but my cat seems to prefer the air conditioner and stopped using it immediately. The futon is secured with Velcro to prevent it from slipping, but there is some fluffing on the part of the futon that sticks to the Velcro (back side) (see photo 8). Some cat hair that couldn't be removed is attached to the Velcro. As stated in the instruction manual, temperature control is in place to prevent burns for cats. It does not get as hot as a human kotatsu, but this is not a malfunction. Shipping may be in the product box.
