Instead of the rubberized, stand-up collar coats that were popular at the time, I splurged and bought a trench coat with a removable liner. I only wore it a few times before it ended up in storage. I kept it, believing "I'll wear it again someday," but my body shape has changed over the years, and it's become too tight, so I'm letting it go. When worn over a jacket, the armholes will be snug. Ideally, a jacket without shoulder pads would be preferable. I loved the stylish wool liner with the Macintosh monogram pattern and the lining of the main coat. Of course, the wool liner is removable. To prevent the belt from accidentally coming undone and dragging, there's a button on the left belt loop to secure it. For cold protection, a chin guard is also included so that the collar stands up nicely when buttoned up to the top. (It's best to remove and store it when not in use.) I didn't wear it very often, so I don't think there's any noticeable dirt on the inside of the collar. There are no spare buttons. It's versatile, allowing for a casual look with knitwear or a more formal look with a suit. You can wear it from autumn to early spring by removing or attaching the liner.
