He apprenticed under the Living National Treasure, tea kettle craftsman Keiten Takahashi, and became independent in 1973, establishing the "Kikuchi Masamitsu Workshop." • Awards and Certifications ・1973: First selection for the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition. Selected over 10 times thereafter. ・1978: Received the Japan Kogei Association Tokyo Branch Award at the Traditional Crafts Musashino Exhibition. ・1982: Certified as a Japan Traditional Art Craftsman. ・Furthermore, numerous honors including the Asahi Shimbun Award (1993), Yamagata Prefecture Outstanding Skilled Worker Award (1998), and the Traditional Crafts Contributor Award (2002).
