This is a set of four Okayama Ujo-bori (crow castle carving) square trays. Each tray has a different carved design. They are carved from a single piece of wood, giving them a substantial feel. These were treasured by my grandmother, who was a tea ceremony teacher. They are believed to be about 50 years old, and have a presence that comes from their history. I imagine how wonderful it would be to have a meal served on these trays at an old folk house cafe... Size of one tray: Length: 38.5cm Width: 39cm Height: 3.5cm
