It's a thinner type compared to others my grandfather made. While organizing my grandfather's house, I found inkstones and inkstone slabs he made himself. He used to make inkstones as one of his hobbies in his later years, using the Soryu stone (★) he had stored. These were made by my grandfather, who was a master of stone stacking, while enjoying himself. I think he had a good eye for stones. I think my grandfather would be happy if I could pass them on to someone who likes them or who will make inkstones from now on. Soryu stone is no longer mined. (★) This is Soryu stone (Araya stone) mined in Shimonokae, Tosashimizu City. In the 1970s, the first Issui Nakamura of Nakamura Inkstone requested my grandfather and father to quarry the stone with heavy machinery, and they accompanied him. Issui-san and we are relatives. As it is a natural stone, there are also chips and scratches. Please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for perfection.
