This is a beautiful Ido chawan (tea bowl) made by Sohei Takashima, who graduated from the workshop of Mr. Jun Isezaki. He uses the sandy soil of Bizen and glazes it, resulting in a piece with a beautiful and highly textured surface, featuring sesame and kiln-changed effects. The artist is very particular about the clay. Received the Contemporary Ceramic Art Encouragement Award from the Japan Ceramic Society in 2020, in the "Tea Ceramics" category for Chugoku and Shikoku regions. Currently independent, creating in Ushimado-cho, Setouchi City, where he has an anagama kiln.
