Graduated from Meiji University's Faculty of Literature and Showa Medical University (now Showa University School of Medicine). After specializing in psychiatry at Keio University School of Medicine, he worked at the Saito Psychiatric Hospital. Doctor of Medicine. While serving as honorary director of the hospital as a psychiatrist, and honorary chairman of the Japanese Psychiatric Hospital Association, he was also known as an essayist, and was active in various fields, such as the chairman of the Japan Travel Writers Association.
