This inkstone is made from Amehata Shinkiseki stone quarried in Amehata, Yamanashi Prefecture. It has the characteristic stone patterns of Amehata Shinkiseki. Suitable for kana (Japanese syllabary), kanji (Chinese characters), and sumi-e (ink wash painting). It grinds ink smoothly and comfortably, in the style of a traditional Japanese inkstone. Works well with both pine soot ink and oil soot ink, producing excellent ink color. The ink grinds very well and produces vibrant ink.
