Osaka, Washu Sect, Head Temple, Shitenno-ji Temple Three-Faced Daikoku Prayer Card Shitenno-ji Temple was established in the first year of the Suiko Emperor's reign (593), over 1400 years ago. According to the Nihon Shoki (Chronicles of Japan), during the battle between Mononobe no Moriya and Soga no Umako, Prince Shotoku, who sided with the pro-Buddhist Soga clan, carved an image of the Four Heavenly Kings to overcome the unfavorable situation. He vowed, "If we win this battle, I will build a temple to enshrine the Four Heavenly Kings and save all people in this world." After the victory, he fulfilled his vow, and the temple of Shitenno-ji was built. Furthermore, it is said in the sutras that those who believe in Daikokuten (Great Black God) will be granted great wealth and wishes, and those who revere him will be promised good fortune and fulfillment.
