I know nothing about shakuhachi flutes. This item belonged to my family. I think it's been about twenty years since it was purchased, but I'm not sure. That family member was also a shakuhachi beginner and didn't use it much. There are quite a few cracks. Also, there are areas where thin lines can be seen, so please check the photos (from the 7th to the 9th photo). A few weeks ago, the top and bottom could be separated, but now they won't come apart, so I'm selling it as is. I only wiped it down, and I haven't cleaned it in particular.
