This is a very華やかな antique Nagoya obi with a beautiful color scheme, woven with auspicious classical designs such as cranes, pine, bamboo, plum blossoms, chrysanthemums, and peonies. The use of gold and silver threads and multiple colors of lustrous threads creates a lively array of patterns. The reason it doesn't feel overwhelming is likely due to the color coordination with the vibrant hues of the cute colored threads. The front side is in beautiful condition with no notable damage, but the beige ground on the back side has yellowed overall due to silk reversion, and there are some stains and discoloration in places. There is a spot where the lining stain is slightly visible at the end of the tare (hanging part), but other than that, it is a place that will be hidden when tied. I think there are no major problems with wearing it. Although there is an overall feeling of aging, there are no scratches, abrasions, tears, or loose threads. The condition is good for an antique, and it seems a shame to use it for remaking. I think this item was made by remaking a maru obi into a Nagoya obi.
