A very delicate and beautiful piece of antique Belgian lace purchased in France. An all-handmade Brussels Duchesse lace, or possibly Honiton lace, with a rather long bobbin-lace lappet, likely from the 1800s. It's a stunning collar. You can cross it at the chest like a summer scarf or use it as a lace shawl. If you wrap it around your neck, you'll be breathless at its exquisite, delicate, and rare beauty. The piece is filled with floral patterns. Sunflowers, marguerites, flowers resembling primroses, and adorable shamrocks (three-leaf clovers)... The outlines are done with slightly thicker thread, and intricate embroidery techniques are used inside. The delicate leaves expressing the veins are impressive. Small picot lace is also embroidered on the bridges connecting the motifs, making it lovely. The beautiful color is also attractive. A pale glass ivory... a refined and antique ivory color with a hint of khaki green-yellow. You might even feel like it's butter cream. It has a beautiful tone that only works that have aged can possess. It has a smooth and silky feel. It also has a luster, and it may be linen, cotton, or even a silk blend. There are some minor unraveling of the very fine thread embroidery within the motifs and the threads of the bridges, but I don't think they are very noticeable. The long lappets are easy to wrap and use, and the multi-layered lace creates an indescribable elegance.
