This is a Wajima-nuri lacquerware bowl. It's a piece with a beautiful peony maki-e design on vibrant vermillion lacquer. The large white peony, rendered in colored lacquer, has an interesting design that also gives the impression of an oil painting. It's in very good condition, having only been stored.
