Initially, it was the Monocraft Products Company, manufacturing monogram plates for handbags. In 1937, they began producing jewelry and grew into a major brand, even producing Yves Saint Laurent jewelry in 1982. Their clip-on earrings, in particular, were very popular for not hurting the ears. Vintage items are basically used items, and there may be signs of use, small scratches, fading, discoloration, or peeling. They are not as pristine as new items.
