The video is old, so it looks a bit hazy. Even so, I think it's a masterpiece that you'll want to own. I was introduced to it by a friend's recommendation. Kenneth MacMillan's "Romeo and Juliet" has wonderful direction, and even now, renowned dancers perform it at the Royal Ballet, but Alessandra Ferri's Juliet is said to be the best among the filmed versions. She is incredibly graceful, and you can see beautiful pas de deux that make the most of her back flexibility, as if it were choreographed for Ferri in her prime. Ferri is often praised for her expressiveness, but I was most impressed by her ballet technique! This is just my personal opinion, but her emotional expression felt a bit exaggerated rather than realistic and relatable. Ballet is on stage, so the impression differs between watching from the audience and watching a video. Anyway, I highly recommend it to anyone who loves ballet. ② The eternal Juliet. Time passed, and Ferri released a DVD with a different Romeo, but I couldn't feel the same level of perfection as this "Covent Garden miracle," and it ended up being put away after watching it once. It truly showcases the "dancing actress." The Royal Ballet's realistic performances, the heavy and stylish costumes and stage sets even now. Skinhead ladies! (Stylish and cool without ruining the atmosphere!) Everything is perfect. It's a work that made me realize that ballet is not just classical, but also cutting-edge stage art. I'm really glad I bought this DVD.
