In the old days, when people visited the Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) in this area to pray, they would offer a straw horse to the deity at night so as not to be seen by others. When their prayers were answered, they would take back the bare straw horse they had offered earlier, decorate it with cloths of various colors as a thank you, and return to the deity at night to offer it in secret. This is how it came to be called "Shinobi-Koma" (Stealth Horse). I don't think there are any noticeable stains. I have displayed it on a shelf at home.
