The 6-sided nut is made of brass, also made in Japan. 316 stainless steel has an increased nickel content of 8% to 12% compared to general 304 stainless steel, making it even more resistant to rust. It has a beautiful color. Furthermore, molybdenum is added to increase strength. It is a hard and durable stainless steel. The handle shaft is a one-piece machined structure. The W handles of Abu and Daiwa bait reels as shown in the photos are designed with shafts slightly larger than the reel size. They can be attached without the need for troublesome retainers. Some custom handle manufacturers' W handles may require slight modification of the handle mounting hole to fit. Models with handle plates that curve inward, such as those found on recent bait reels, cannot be used as they will contact the line roller. The handle plate thickness can be from 2mm to 2.5mm. Right-handed and left-handed models are available. The left-handed model uses reverse threads on the screws to prevent the handle from loosening. For use in the sea, it cannot withstand salt.
