New, unused. When my daughter, who lives separately, tried it, she happily reported, "It got the most fur off ever!" Apparently, even the cat, who usually hates brushes, seemed to enjoy it and stayed still. Cute ❤︎ Note: Photos 12 and 13 are the actual photos. However, the steam is powerful, so "the surrounding area gets pretty wet." I confidently recommend it for cats, as I've actually used it.
