You put a cigarette into the case, and when you pull the center of the case sideways, the cigarette is cut into three pieces. You take the cigarette out of the case and show that it is indeed cut into pieces. You put the cut cigarette back into the case, and when you return the center to its original position, the cigarette comes out connected as before. Then you show the same thing again, but this time you have them put a mark on the cut cigarette with a pen. When the cigarette returns to its original single piece, the mark is still there!
