This is an EVETTE&SCHAEFFER wooden clarinet by Buffet Crampon, made in France. EVETTE&SCHAEFFER was a joint venture between Buffet Crampon and the German company SCHAEFFER, and was manufactured in France. The barrel, upper joint, lower joint, and bell all have the same EVETTE&SCHAEFFER PARIS engraving, indicating they are all made of wood (grenadilla). EVETTE clarinets also have plastic joints, but the engraving is different. The mouthpiece is a Henri Selmer, MADE IN FRANCE. There are signs of repair on the cork. There was no looseness when the parts were assembled. The item for sale shows signs of aging, but is relatively clean. I confirmed that sound can be produced with the included mouthpiece. As a beginner, I was able to play notes down to the lowest keys with my right and left little fingers. I also confirmed that the octave key raises the pitch when pressed, without pressing any other keys with my right hand. Since I am not an advanced player, please consider that adjustment and maintenance may be necessary for the higher octaves. In my subjective opinion, it has a good, round sound characteristic of wood (grenadilla). The reed is a Rico Grand Concert SELECTlON 2.5, but it has been thinned for easier sound production. If you are unable to produce sound on the keys I tested using the included mouthpiece and reed, I will accept a return. I cannot accept returns if you use a different mouthpiece or reed, as I have not confirmed their functionality. An old case is included. It shows signs of aging, but is relatively clean. Please refrain from purchasing if you are a perfectionist or overly concerned about the appearance.
