This is an original design shogi board, the first time that Master Pom of Thailand has created one for the Japanese shogi game. Master Pom is a contemporary master craftsman who has been involved in the restoration and carving of various temples, including the Emerald Temple (Wat Phra Kaew), the Wang Wiwekaram Temple in Kanchanaburi Province, the main hall of the Phra That Temple in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, and the wall carvings of the Suphasoophon Temple in Buriram Province. He began producing boards with carvings for his grandson, a Makruk (Thai chess) player, and provided them to Makruk enthusiasts in Thailand. This is the first time he has created a work specifically for the Japanese shogi board specifications. The size is 69.5cm x 36.5cm x 3.2cm. The weight is approximately 6 kg. The wood used is Makha Wood. The quality of the carving and the traditional design create an unprecedented shogi board. As this is a handmade product, there may be some imperfections.
