Yame-tsuhime Shrine, located in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is enveloped in a mystical atmosphere, featuring a giant rock cave with an overwhelming presence. Yame-tsuhime Shrine quietly stands a short distance from National Route 442, which runs through the center of Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is said to have been founded in March of the third year of the Yoro era (719 AD) and was rebuilt in 1986. The name "Yame" is said to have originated from a passage in the Nihon Shoki (Chronicles of Japan): "There is a goddess in the mountains, whose name is Yame-tsuhime, and she is always in the mountains."
