Thank you for viewing. This item is a guitar amplifier called Tweedtone, which was formerly sold by Human Gear. I am selling it to fund a Deluxe Reverb hand-wired project. Human Gear is famous for selling effectors and other niche parts, but this amplifier was made based on the experience the owner gained with his own Fender 5E3 Deluxe. If you search online, you can find old articles about it, so please take a look if you're interested. This amplifier was made in 1996 and was likely built by an amp builder for the owner. Judging from the transformers, speakers, etc., it appears to be a custom amplifier based on a Mojotone kit. The internal wiring is also very clean, a testament to the quality of the build. Attention to detail can be seen throughout, with features like military-grade Switchcraft jacks, vintage 6V6 and 5Y3 vacuum tubes, speaker cables, and jacks. Personally, I prefer the tone of newer vacuum tubes, so I have installed: JJ Electronics 5Y3 for the rectifier tube TAD 6V6GT-STR REDBASE for the power tubes TAD 7025 Electro Harmonix 12AY7 for the preamp tube I also have the original vintage NOS tubes and ones I purchased later: Phillips ECG 6V6GT Phillips ECG 5Y3WGTA RCA 5V4 sylvania 5751 Although it's 15W, it produces a considerable volume and sound pressure. Up to around Vol 3, it has a very clear clean sound, and beyond that, the distortion gradually increases. As expected from Leo Fender's work, it pairs perfectly with single-coil pickups. Of course, it sounds great with humbuckers too. Unlike later Blackface amps, it's very sensitive to touch, and the straightforward sound is pure rock. Blackface amps, due to the influence of negative feedback, sound a bit more subdued in comparison and have a compressed feel. I use it with a full-hollow guitar, as I heard Grant Green used it during his Blue Note era, and it certainly sounds like it did back then. It's also perfect for jazz cleans. The power supply is 120V, US specification, so please use a step-up transformer. Please understand that this is a used item before purchasing.
