This is a finished Honba Yuki-tsumugi kimono, designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property. Yuki-tsumugi is a traditional textile from Ibaraki Prefecture, counted among the three major tsumugi fabrics in Japan. The certification for Honba Yuki-tsumugi has a mark commonly known as the "Yui" mark printed on the center seal. This hand-woven Honba Yuki-tsumugi was designated as a National Important Intangible Cultural Property in 1956, and due to the cultural value of its techniques, it was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2010. The soft, warm, and surprisingly light silk wadding fabric is a characteristic of Honba Yuki-tsumugi. Striped patterns dyed in colors such as purple, blue, light blue, green, and gray are woven into the fabric. This is a Yuki-tsumugi from the long-established Fujinuki Co., Ltd. A certification from the Honba Yuki-tsumugi Wholesale Cooperative and the Important Intangible Cultural Property designation is included.
