This is a bamboo brush roll for calligraphy. It's a "makisu" (bamboo rolling mat) made by connecting bamboo pieces with thread. It protects brushes after use and safeguards them from dust and mold during storage. This item is from the 1980s and has been stored for a long time, but it appears to be in clean condition with no stains, odors, or damage. Please enlarge the images and take a look.
