This is a large, 16-sided, all-cherry bark tea chest from Kakunodate, Akita Prefecture. ☆Product Description * The design on the lid is a gourd (hyotan). * Lid size: Longest part 31cm Height 3cm * Chest size: Longest part 29cm Depth 9cm * Condition of the product There are scratches and stains on the lid and the bottom of the chest. The underside of the lid and the inside of the chest are clean with no scratches or stains. Reason for the stains: Kakunodate cherry bark craft is made by polishing the bark of wild cherry trees and applying it to wooden containers with traditional Japanese glue varnish. Therefore, wiping with water is strictly prohibited when cleaning. There was some peeling of the cherry bark on the lid of this product due to aging. To prevent the cherry bark from peeling due to moisture, varnish was applied to the entire surface, but the top of the lid and the bottom of the chest have become bumpy.
