This is a wooden standing statue of Amida Nyorai. A white urna (a tuft of hair between the eyebrows) is embedded in the forehead. Among all the Buddhas, Amida Nyorai is said to have the most superior light and is the only one who can unconditionally save all sentient beings, no matter how heavy their sins. As the principal Buddha of the Pure Land in the West, chanting "Namu Amida Butsu" allows one to be welcomed into the Pure Land, where Amida Nyorai will assist them. This is a very blessed Buddha.
