Product from Okayama Prefecture. An old basket. Woven with igusa (rush). Of course, it's nearly impossible to obtain one now. As the image shows, one of the handles is broken. It's not for practical use, but is being sold as a reference or object. However, it might be possible to repair it with some ingenuity. Originally, it seems it was used in the black markets after the war, and I assume it was later produced in line with the folk craft movement. It's initially whitish, so you can see how much it has turned brown. String is wrapped around the handle for added strength. The whole thing is generally stiff.
