Fuji-fu has a long history of 1300 years, but in recent years, the number of people who can make it has drastically decreased. Currently, it is only made by Mr. Kahata in the Tango region, making it a very rare material. This is because it requires a huge amount of effort, time, and skill to refine the yarn, as well as to weave it. The inner bark of the fuji vine is peeled off, beaten with a wooden mallet, and softened to make the yarn, which can finally be put on the loom. It is made by a series of hand operations, but it has the goodness of natural fabric.
