The songs were actually written during the recording of the 1971 album "Hunky Dory," and recording for this album began about two months before its release. Recording took place at Trident Studios in London from November 8, 1971, to February 4, 1972. On this album, Bowie played vocals, acoustic guitar, saxophone, and harpsichord, and also handled the arrangements.
