Liner notes by Takashi Nishiike (Cellophane) This is a CD by the Japanese indie band Sonic Blue from 1999. I bought it based on the jacket, which has a Beatles "Yellow Submarine" vibe with its font and illustrations, but also a 90s fashion sense, making me wonder what the music would sound like. Upon listening, I immediately thought of Teenage Fanclub! The melodies and guitars have an Oasis feel, and the slightly strange pop sensibility reminds me of Blur. I thought, "This is a band that seriously did Britpop in Japanese." It's a sound with a deep and persuasive quality. I also felt it was like a Japanese band, Preschool, but more aligned with Teenage Fanclub. Even though it's in Japanese, it's not grating and feels familiar, like Supercar. 【Sonic Blue】 A guitar rock band formed in Osaka in 1997, centered around Yamashita, formerly of Royal Mountains. Fujima joined in February 1998. Tarutani left (later active in Papabox, etc.), and Hachi (Hata) joined as the replacement guitarist from June 1998. Also, the drummer left due to a transfer to Tokyo, and Tokuyama joined as the replacement. Tokuyama left in September 2000 (later active in Stereo Sun), and Yoshimitsu Fujita, formerly of PORK PIE, participated as a support member from October 2000, continuing activities. In March 2001, Sasaki, formerly of Sleeve!, officially joined as the drummer. Sasaki left in August 2001, and Yoshimitsu Fujita participated again as a support member from September 2001. From 2002, they released works from their self-made label, Warm Gun Records. The disc surface is in clean condition. Otherwise, it's in average used condition.
