The shrine, surrounded by a sacred forest, is said to have been founded in 1575 (Tensho 3) of the Azuchi-Momoyama period, and the entire site is a keyhole-shaped ancient tomb (Suido Tomb) built around the 5th century. It is believed that a tomb was built there, a shrine was enshrined, and it has been protected as the ujigami (guardian deity) of the local residents.
