Carpet making in Semnan is said to date back to the Sasanian period (226 AD - 651 AD) based on archaeological findings. However, carpet production is now almost non-existent in this region, so the carpets found are very few and limited to older pieces. The designs show influences from Kashan, Qom, and Mashhad. We select aged items with minimal wear and tear on the pile. These items have been used or stored for a long time in the region where they were woven.
