The zipper opens and closes smoothly. For its age, it has kept its shape well, the fabric is stiff, there's little damage to the corners, and the leather handles are beautiful. It stands up firmly on its own. However, there is overall light soiling, but I feel this is unavoidable for a vintage L.L.Bean tote. It has a look that immediately says "vintage," and I think it's good as is.
